Title continues: "Official name of Kansas City, Mo. 1853-89." Outline map showing counties, some waterways, roads, and trails, with text and drawings illustrating historical events. Includes a chronology table and first events table on map.
Reverse side features several synopses of historical events or people related to Kansas City. Included are: "The Story of Kansas City;" Indian Tribes;" Trappers, Traders and Mountain Men;" "Early Commerce;" "Kansas City in 1854;" "John C. McCoy;" descriptions of Kansas City or the area as found in "Journal of Meriwether Lewis, June 24, 1806;" Francis Parkman's "The Oregon Trail;" and Washington Irving's letter to his sister 1832. One of the panels states, "Pictorial Map of Kansas City and It's [sic] Vicinity. . .Published in celebration of our golden anniversary 1889-1939, Shryork Realty Co., 111 West Tenth Street, Kansas City, Missouri."
