| Abstract | Biographical chapter about Antoine Robidoux (1794-1860), a Southwestern fur trader and early settler of Saint Joseph, Missouri. He was a native of Florissant, Missouri (a suburb of Saint Louis, Missouri) moving to Santa Fe in about 1824 and becoming associated with fellow trader David Waldo and others, as well as being involved with the establishment of forts on the Santa Fe Trail starting in 1825. He was the president of the Santa Fe town council in 1830 and namesake of Robidoux Pass before moving to Saint Joseph in about 1844 and serving as interpreter in the Mexican War. |
