TitleLooking Backward
AbstractOne paragraph about the Mondamin Hotel at the southwest corner of 12th and Washington Streets, originally the home of Mayor Johnston Lykins, called in 1859 "the finest residence in town." Moved westward in 1912 from the corner of 12th and Broadway Streets (possibly by William Bovard, Sr.) and renovated into a hotel.
NotesMrs. Lykins, a talented and accomplished woman for those days and a writer of short stories, was banished during the war by the military authorities for disloyalty to the government.
