AbstractArticle about the brothels or bordellos in Kansas City and similar frontier towns in the middle to late 19th century, describing them in general as well as Kansas City brothels and the practice of prostitution in particular, including the "resort houses" of Annie Chambers "(nee Leanna or Leannah Loveall)," Eva Prince, and Madam Lovejoy, with a photo and an 1896 map of Annie Chambers's resort at 3rd and Wyandotte Streets. Description of the movement of the brothels with the southward direction of growth of the city from 1870 to 1905, with photos of madams and their ads and calling cards.
