Also "in charge of the first post office west of Independence" at the Shawnee mission in Kansas in 1831; editor and publisher of "the first newspaper in Indian language" at the mission; realtor with land on the Riverfront; "host to Missouri Senator Thomas Hart Benton, explorer John Charles Fremont and other notables" at his first home at 2nd and Wyandotte Streets; and "for a number of years president of the Mechanics Bank of Kansas City." |
