TitleKansas City Presents "a Challenge to Missouri" [headline article]
AbstractIllustrated caricature and multiple articles including the "cover story," a reprint from the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch about an investigative report on the threats of Kansas City organized crime to the state of Missouri as a whole. Also information about other criminal and political figures involved, including John Lazia, Frank Nash (and other Union Station Massacre figures), Merrill Otis, Eugene Reppert, Thomas Higgins, George Rayen, and Micheal La Capra (Michael La Capra?), et al.
NotesPage 410: "'It is no exaggeration to say that the shadow of Tom Pendergast now falls across the whole length and breadth of Missouri. His nod makes Governors and United States Senators, by the puissance of his Kansas City machine that produces votes in whatever quantity desired. Pendergast has enslaved Kansas City.'"
