Colored Salt--Contented Cars
Not available online
TitleColored Salt--Contented Cars
AbstractPhotos (depicting Downtown or Midtown stores such as Super A& P Market, etc.) and article (written by the commissioner of streets and sewers) about snow removal on Kansas City streets using different types of salt researched by the Midwest Research Institute.
NotesPage 155: "Kansas City is just far enough south to make snow and ice control a problem. We are on the rim of the warm-climate belt and, consequently, get snowfalls that begin to melt during the day but freeze glass-smooth at night. And since we have more than our share of hills, life certainly isn't easy for the street crews."
