| Title | A Fragment of Early Kansas History |
| Abstract | Article about the history of early Kansas with description of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, Horace Greeley's book ("American Conflict" volume 1, page 235) description of Kansas Territory, and involvement with President Franklin Pierce, Reverend Thomas Johnson, and Governor Andrew Reeder (pictured), Colonel William Montgomery, and Jefferson Davis, etc. |
| Notes | On page 64 is a photo of the "first territorial capital of Kansas, at Pawnee, [i]n which the First Territorial Legislature [of Kansas] met, July 2d [sic], 1855." Pawnee was formerly located in Davis County, Kansas (named for Jefferson Davis) and renamed in 1889 as Geary County, Kansas because of the "Confederate Chieftain's" attempts at establishing slavery in Kansas. |
