TitleEditor Was Inventor of Aunt Jemima Pancakes
AbstractBiographical article (reprinted from the Saint Joseph News-Press, Centennial Edition, July 25, 1943) about Purd Wright as co-inventor of the Aunt Jemima pancake image in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Aunt Jemima pancake flour concocted in 1889 by Chris Rutt, a friend of Wright, later a newspaper editor and librarian in Saint Joseph.
NotesIt was the same Purd Wright, who tasted the first perfected pancake, who originated the slogan, 'I'se in town, honey,' at a time when he was writing advertising copy for the David Milling Company. Mr. Wright now lives in Kansas City, where he serves as librarian.
