AbstractThis article details the life of Columbia and Boone County, Missouri resident Odon Guitar. He attended the University of Missouri, fought in the Mexican War under Alexander Doniphan, became a legislator, a Union general in the Civil War, practiced law, served as mayor and councilman, etc. He died on May 13, 1908.
NotesOdon Guitar was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on August 31, 1825. His father, John Guitar, was a native of Bordeaux, France; his mother was a native of Kentucky and a daughter of Captain David Gordon, later an extensive farmer in Boone county, Missouri.
