| Abstract | This article details the life of Columbia and Boone County, Missouri resident Odon Guitar. He attended the University of Missouri, fought in the Mexican War under Alexander Doniphan, became a legislator, a Union general in the Civil War, practiced law, served as mayor and councilman, etc. He died on May 13, 1908. |
| Notes | Odon Guitar was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on August 31, 1825. His father, John Guitar, was a native of Bordeaux, France; his mother was a native of Kentucky and a daughter of Captain David Gordon, later an extensive farmer in Boone county, Missouri. |
