AbstractThe auditorium of the Grand Theater was round even before this theater. It had been a cyclorama. On its rounding walls, pictures had depicted the Battle of Gettysburg, a grand spectacle of its day. The Midland opened at 7th and Grand Streets on September 1, 1889. The Grand Opera House was built on the same ground by A. Judah and Melville H. Hudson on October 3, 1891, and opened with Patti Rosa in "Dolly Varden."
