AbstractDuring the Kaw River flood of July 1951, flooding in the Midwest caused more than $1 billion damage and claimed 41 lives. In Kansas City three persons drowned and property damage totaled $870 million. Of the five industrial districts in the area, only North Kansas City completely escaped the ravages of the flood.
