AbstractForeign newspapers in Kansas City: (1) Italian: L'Osservatore (meaning "The Observer"), established in 1909 by J. P. Deo; (2) German: Kansas City Presse, founded in the 1850s by August Wuerz [originally titled differently]; (3) German: Staats Zeitung, from the early 1900s; and (4) Swedish: Kansas City Tribunen, established under this name in 1901.
NotesJ. P. Deo established "L'Osservatore" in 1909, serving as its owner and editor, publishing at 210 East 5th Street, and also was a "steamship agent and a cigar manufacturer" living at 214 North Denver Avenue.
