| Notes | The Baltimore Hotel opened to the public on June 10, 1899, as a 6-story hotel, with 150 guest rooms at 11th and Baltimore Avenue. A tunnel was constructed under the street to the Willis Wood Theatre in 1902 so that people could come over to the Baltimore between acts or after the play. Peacock Alley dwarfed a similar passage through the Willard Hotel in Washington, D. C. In 1908 an 11-story addition on 12th Street gave the hotel a total of 550 rooms. |
