AbstractBiographical article about James Gillespie Hamilton by his granddaughter, the author, describing his cattle drive in 1857-1858 from Westport to California as "a member of the firm [Blank & Blank Cattle Company] which occupied the historic building at the northwest corner of Westport road and Pennsylvania avenue," arriving in San Francisco with 715 of their original herd of 1000.
