AbstractReview of the life of Lear B. Reed, former police chief from 1939 to 1941. He died in Richmond, Virginia, October 1, 1972. Reed, an FBI agent, handled the Union Station massacre case. After his stint as Kansas City police chief, he started the Lear B. Reed Institute, Inc., a school for investigators. Later, he became managing editor for the Compton Journal in California.
