| Title | Name a School Volker: Van Horn Designation Is Changed by Board |
| Abstract | Article about the change in "name of the Van Horn school, 3715 Wyoming street" to "the William Volker school as a tribute to Kansas City's educational-minded benefactor," located "within a block of the [William] Volker home (3717 Bell)." Description of the old and new schools and their namesakes, William Volker and Colonel Robert Van Horn. |
| Notes | The R. J. DeLano school originally was named the William Volker school. ..but because of provisions in a PWA grant for the building it could not bear the name of a living person. The DeLano name was then adopted. The Van Horn school was opened in September 1913. It formerly was on part of the site of the Roanoke Baptist church. The original building was kept as a wing of the church, which was constructed in 1923. |
