| Abstract | Claude "Fiddler" Williams, local jazz musician, died April 25, 2004, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a jazz violinist for more than 75 years, attaining global acclaim. At the time of his death he was 96 years old. According to the article "Williams was one of the last remaining links to Kansas City's jazz era of the 1930s." During his careet he played with renowned musicians as Count Basie, Lester Young, Mary Lou Williams and Andy Kirk. His last public performance was at the Plaza III restaurant in December, 2003. |
| Notes | Claude Williams was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 22, 1908. He came to Kansas City in 1928. He is to buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road. |
