AbstractObituary for John B. Francis, former chairman of Puritan Bennett Corp. When Francis retired in 1986, he ended his family's control of the company founded by his father, Parker B. Francis, in 1913. The company is now part of Tyco Healthcare, and continues to produce ventilation and respiratory care products.
NotesOne of Francis' most notable legacies is the Francis Child Development Institute at Penn Valley Community College, which has received about $15 million from the Francis Families Foundation for the training of early childhood teachers.
