AbstractThe Kansas City Chapter of the American Institute of Architects compiled a list of 25 buildings in the central business district that they believe are significant downtown landmarks ''worthy of attention and reuse.'' The Empire Theater was stated as being the most endangered building at this time. The list includes, when known, the year of original construction, address, architect and whether it's on the National Register of Historic Places.

Building; Bonfils Building; Bryant Building; Central Fire Station; Coates House Hotel and Apartments; Commercial Building-Siegrist Engraving; Cosby Building; Empire Theater; Gate City National Building; Grand Avenue Temple and Office Building; Graphic Arts; Gumbel Building; Italian Gardens; Lowe's Midland Theater and Office Building; Louis Curtiss Studio Building; Ozark National Life Building/Original Public Library; Palace Clothing Co.; Pickwick Bus Terminal & Apartments; Savoy Hotel and Savoy Grill Restaurant; Scarritt Building and Scarritt Arcade; St. Mary's Episcopal Church; St. Patrick's Cathedral; Union Carbide Building; and Wiltshire Apartments.
