| Abstract | Vertical file contains a photo and obituary for George Gamble, "widely-known retired railroad man," dying at the age of 77 in 1951. He was a native of Kentucky raised in Atchison, Kansas. He started with the Rock Island Railroad in 1894 and retired from it in 1946 "after 51 years and 10 months of continuous service with the Rock Island system." His residence was at 2445 Montgall Avenue, which was built by him in 1923. |
