| Title | Barbecue Eatery to Close Two Sites |
| Abstract | KC Masterpiece Barbecue and Grill has decided to close its Country Club Plaza and St. Louis restaurants and concentrate on its "flagship" restaurant at 10985 Metcalf in Overland Park. "Rich Davis, a former child psychiatrist, developed the KC Masterpiece barbecue sauces and began selling them in 1978. Sales were more than $4 million by the end of 1985, and he soon sold rights to the sauce to a division of Clorox Co., but kept the rights to open restaurants under the KC Masterpiece name. The sauce is now sold in supermarkets nationwide". |
| Notes | The Plaza restaurant opened in a 6,000-square-foot spot at 4747 Wyandotte St. in 1992. It was the fourth location for the Kansas City company, but at the time Davis didn't consider it a chain. |
