TitlePatrons Will Miss Shoe Spot
AbstractFeatured in the "Cityscape" column, Showalter's Shoes is noted as going out of business. The shoe store was founded by John Showalter in downtown Kansas City in 1921. It was purchased in 1969 by Robert and Linda Werner and was later relocated to Mission. It's current location is 6862 Johnson Drive where it has been for the last four years. The store specialized in unusual size shoes and those made for medical conditions like fallen arches. The article states the owner "expects to liquidate the 8,600 pairs of shoes in stock by the end of August".
