AbstractThe file contains an April 26, 1867 newspaper article about the history of fences in Kansas and also other references to the topic.Fences were a "hot issue" in 1880s Kansas in the battle between homesteaders and ranch owners of open cattle ranges in the advent of commonly used barbed wire.
