TitleBlack Colleges Find Acceptance with NAIA
AbstractArticle describing the importance of the NAIA Tournament and National Championship to historically black colleges during the Jim Crow era of the 1950s and 1960s. On March 17, 2007, the 1957-59 Tennessee A & I (now Tennessee State) NAIA Championship teams were celebrated at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, honoring the NAIA players and teams which were "denied their spot" in past NCAA Tournaments due to racial bias.
