| Title | Air Base a Step Closer to Use as Inland Port |
| Abstract | City officials and CenterPoint Realty Services Corp. of Chicago signed contracts that moved the $10.6 million sale of the former military airport, Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, closer into being. It will take an additional $250 million more to redevelop it as an intermodal rail and trucking port used by Kansas City Southern. The proceeds from the sale will go toward improvements at Wheeler Downtown Airport. "Richards-Gebaur was deactivated as a full-fledged Air Force base in 1976 but kept some military reserve and air defense activity into the early 1990s." |
