TitleFire Museum Making a Move
AbstractThe Kansas City Fire Museum, now located at 1019 Cherry Street, is having to move. The proposed East Village redevelopment project is scheduled to be a part of the current location. The museum's vintage trucks and other artifacts will be moving to Union Station. The article states that "our artifacts will become part of Union Station's artifacts." The collection includes a 1951 Seagrave hook and ladder truck, a 1927 Ahrens-Fox fire truck, a 19th-century hose cart, records and photographs documenting the Kansas City Fire Department, helmets, life nets, ladders, badges, uniforms, etc. "The fire museum opened on Cherry Street in 1990, but the board stopped investing in the building when the city said it had other plans for the property."
