| Title | Store's Still Got 'the Floor' |
| Abstract | The New Dime Store located at 314 W. 63rd Street in Brookside is set to open April 28, 2007. Fifi Wiedeman is the new owner and a long-time Brookside resident. Even though the store was updated, the creaky wood floors were left in place. "The original Dime Store opened in 1940-- when it switched from a grocery to a general store--and Earnest Arfsten managed it for owner Levin Lanning from 1944 until he bought it from Lanning in 1963. His son, Bob Arfsten, who had worked at the store since 1944, took over after Earnest died at age 86 in 1985." |
