TitleKC Board Approves School Changes
AbstractThe Kansas City School Board agreed by a 5-2 vote to phase out most of the district's middle schools. Superintendent Anthony Amato has pushed the phase out in favor of neighborhood elementary schools serving children in kindergarten through the eighth grade. The article also states that as many as six middle schools could close with others used as elementary schools. Also a college prep secondary school with a math and science emphasis would open at Southwest High School with Chick, Ladd, and Clarke students moving to an African centered campus at the Southeast Zoo Academy and Southeast High School. A universal preschool for 3 to 5-year olds would be established.
