Charles Dwight was born February 19, 1931 to the parents of Marvin and Earnestine Norman in Kansas City, Kansas. Dwight's grandmother was first of his family to come to Kansas in the early 20's from Mobile, Alabama.

Served in the United States Army in Korea from 1952 and 1954. Salary during this period was $91.00 monthly. Member of the Northeast Optimist Club. This organization offers scholarships, promotes educational programs, and serves as an aid to parents in need of help in the black community. Neighborhood Youth Corp counselor, coordinator and supervisor. Summer employment is made available through Man Power Funds for black youth desiring jobs.

Affiliated with National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Missouri State Teachers, Council of Exceptional Children, Kansas City, Kansas Mayor's Advisory Council, Mt. Edna Lodge, Korem Temple Shrine No. 33, Board of Deacons at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Civil Service Board Commissioner and also Treasurer of Kansas City Association of Elementary Principals.
