Clemmie L. Bacchus was born May 8, 1937 in Desota County, Hernado, Mississippi, to Eddie and Leona Bacchus. Went to school usually four months of a year because of the importance of farm work at that time. Public education was not in Desota County until 1955. Until that time schools were church subsidized.
First job in 1955 at Luggage company in Nashville, Tennessee (after completing school). Bacchus accepted Christ at the age of eleven. March 1963 decided to become a minister. At this time he was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. He was ordained as a deacon at 17 years of age. Preached first sermon at age of 26.
Was a candidate for school board member in Kansas City, Kansas in 1973 and 1975. Currently enrolled at Central Baptist Seminary. Tells why it is necessary for a minister to continue in school. Rev. and Mrs. Bacchus organized "Parent—Action" for youth at Northwest Junior High School in K.C., Kansas. |
