AbstractThis collection of 1 box and 5 folders contains correspondence, an Audubon lithograph print of a Harris finch, a photograph of a Harris sparrow, bulletins, and a reprint of an article by Mr. Harris entitled "Historical Notes on Harris's Sparrow" which appeard in "The Auk", Vol. 36, No.2, April, 1919. The material included in this collection relates to birds of the area including the Harris finch, Harris sparrow, and Kansas City area sparrows and warblers.
NotesMr. Harry Harris authored the book "Birds of the Kansas City Region", published in 1919. The title page of the book states that he was an associate member of the American Ornithologists' Union. The Harris sparrow was named after Edward Harris, a member of an Audubon exploring party in this area.
