NotesNamed after educator, councilman, and businessman Frank A. Faxon, Faxon school, was located on the southwest corner of 37th and the Paseo. At first, temporary buildings were put into place there to relieve overcrowding at other public schools in the area; these buildings opened in February of 1907. By 1910, enrollment at Faxon had increased by almost 45%, and a new, permanent building was needed. The cornerstone for this building was laid in the fall of 1910, and it was ready for occupancy in September of the next year. The school closed on June 30, 1997.
