AbstractPhoto and bio of Henry Clark (1849-1907), a Civil War veteran from New York, engaged as a theater actor and oil speculator in the Midwest, moving to Kansas City in 1876, building the Newmarket Theater and a theater at 9th and May Streets destroyed by fire and rebuilt as the Ninth Street Theater, leased to "the Orpheum Theatre Circuit Company," and building "about thirty houses in the southern part of town" (south of 31st Street).
