| Abstract | The State Historical Society of Missouri recently acquired a Thomas Hart Benton pencil, ink, and wash sketch entitled "Oak Tree." This same tree is included in Benton's 1938 painting named "Persephone." The article gives information on the meaning of Benton's "Persephone," currently located in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, as well as on the sketch of "Oak Tree." |
| Notes | The painting, "Persephone," measures 72 1/8 by 56 1/16 and was painted in tempera with oil glazes on a canvas mounted on panel. |
