| Abstract | Kansas City artist Elijah Gowin won a Guggenheim Fellowship. This is the second time in two years that a Kansas City artist has won this award. Gowin is assistant professor of art and art history at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. "In 2006, Wilbur Niewald, professor emeritus of painting at the Kansas City Art Institute, received a Guggenheim Fellowship." Gowin's is "well-known in the Kansas City art world for his digitally manipulated photographs of baptisms and other social rituals...."
