| Title | Artist Was Always Available to Listen |
| Abstract | The "Remembrances" section contains a tribute to local glass artist Gary E. Smith of Prairie Village who died June 28, 2008, at the age of 54. He came from a family of glassmakers who started and still own Gate City Glass. Smith and a partner ran Johnson County Stained Glass. "He created large stained glass windows for several area churches, including Good Shepherd Church in Overland Park and St. Joseph Church in Mendon, Mo. Smith later opened a studio in the basement of his home to pursue more artistic work he loved to do, including fused glass. Smith's work appeared in numerous local art shows, including the Westport, Brookside and Prairie Village art fairs." Includes his picture. |
