AbstractArticle spotlights the careers of two Kansas City jazz musicians, Mike Ning and Victor Perelmuter and tells the story of how they found their way to Kansas City. Ning, a pianist, was born in China but immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan. Perelmuter learned to play the drums while growing up in Poland; his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1968 after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia.
