| Title | A Special Day |
| Abstract | A statue of Buck O'Neil was unveiled Friday, July 25, 2008, at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. "The depiction is of Buck's later years, maybe his 70s. He's wearing a three-button suit, pocket silk over his heart, with those enormous hands folded in front of him, holding a Monarchs cap." His name appears first on a plaque that will list recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award named for him. This award will be given out no more than every three years. Several African American Baseball Hall of Famers attended the unveiling. |
