AbstractCentral United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, has survived numerous floods, including the 1951 flood in which water filled the church up to the balcony. As it has lost membership, the Church has embraced diversity offering 34 social service programs, known as "Bridges of Hope" and developing a muticultural congregation.
