| Title | Big Buzz About Those Books |
| Abstract | Article spotlights the Kansas City Public Library's "larger-than-life" Community Bookshelf parking garage at 10th and Baltimore. The bookshelf design decorates the south facade of the garage and looks like 22 books shelved side-by-side, each spine standing nearly 30 feet tall. The structure, designed by 360 Architects and BNIM Architects, has won several awards and will be featured in an exhibit on parking garages at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. |
| Notes | An accompanying article titled "From a Fish-Shaped Church to 'Hair Curlers' in the Sky" includes photos and information about other "strange" buildings in Kansas City: St. Francis Xavier Church, Community Christian Church, KC Prayer Dome, Bruce Goff Residence, Western Auto Building, Kansas City Star Press Pavilion, Container House, Phil's Coffee Shop & Grill, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Bartle Hall, Yanda Residence, Reagan Car Finance Inc., and Bloch Building at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. |
