TitleExpeditionary Learning
Extended TitleA New Journey Into Knowledge
AbstractArea schools are implementing a new educational program known as Expeditionary Learning, where classes focus on lessons in reading, math, science, and social studies on a particular topic that has connections to the community. The model of learning is based in the Harvard Graduate School of Education and was fashioned after the Outward Bound program "known for its ropes courses and other team-building adventures." The area schools received funding from the Kauffman Foundation that began to consider the potential of the program in 2004.
