| Title | Bannister Plan Sees a Victory |
| Extended Title | Office and retail deal for mall site also seeks $191 million in tax incentives. |
| Abstract | A new plan for the reuse of the former Bannister Mall site at Interstate 435 and Bannister Road by Trails Properties II was unanimously endorsed by the Kansas City Tax Increment Financing Commission. The new plan emphasizes more office development with prospect of Cerner occupying some of that space. "F. Chase Simmons, the attorney representing the developer, said the project would be done at no financial risk to the city. No bonds would be issued before revenues were identified, and the city would not be asked to guarantee the bonds." The former Bannister Mall has already been razed and the former Wal-Mart Hypermart will be torn down soon. |
