| Title | A Very Tough Act to Follow |
| Abstract | Tribute to Elizabeth Kostelac of Kansas City who died March 29, 2011. Kostelac taught ice and roller skating at the Pla-Mor Ballroom at Linwood and Main. She also performed at the Pla-Mor's water shows performing a "phenomenal trick . . . diving from the rafters 40 feet up, with her cape aflame, she plunged toward the water and its kerosene-soaked surface. In the stunt's grand finale, a flash of fire exploded as she broke the surface." Kostelac became active in many local organizations and was a founding member of the Hyde Park Crimie Patrol, as well as "balancing the books for homeowner dues and such things" for Janssen Place for 30 years. |
