AbstractCover story with pictures tells of the Alcott Arts Center at 180 S. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Named for Louisa May Alcott, the center provides music, theater, and art for children. The nonprofit organization began in 2001 and depends almost solely on volunteers. Classes and performances are held in this former three-story school building as well as art exhibits from the spring until the day after Halloween when they close for the winter.
