AbstractArticle profiles Clarence Smith, musical director of the Kansas City Youth Jazz (KCYJ) program. Smith continues the work of Leon and Linda Brady, who started KCYJ in 2001. Smith previously served as director of the jazz program at at the Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. He also plays drums and performs with several local jazz groups.
