AbstractArticle describes initiatives by Northeast Kansas City neighborhoods to transform vacant lots into community gardens and green spaces. Existing gardens in the area include the St. John Community Garden (3922 St. John Ave.), Mattie Rhodes "Jardin Jubilo" garden (130 N. Topping), Lykins Neighborhood garden (9th & Norton). Other community gardens are planned for the Indian Mound, Pendleton Heights, and Sheffield neighborhoods.
