Extended TitleBlast that destroys JJ's restaurant is felt nearly a mile away.
AbstractArticle reports on a large natural gas explosion in the Country Club Plaza that injured at least 16 people and destroyed the iconic JJ's Restaurant at 48th Street and Belleview Avenue. The force of the explosion knocked out windows a half-block away and damaged many buildings in the area. Early reports indicate the source explosion was a natural gas line that was inadvertently struck by a contract worker.
