AbstractDescription and maps regarding the history of Boone's Lick Road, or Boone's Lick Trail (from Saint Louis to Old Franklin, Missouri) in conjunction with Missouri's first public road laws and routes (including the 1851 plank road and 1925 Highway 40), and Boone's Lick, also called Boon's Lick, a salt manufactory in central eastern Missouri, started about 1805 by Nathan Boone and Daniel Morgan Boone.
