He was born in Canada in 1860 and came to Kansas City in 1884 as a carpenter, establishing the Hollinger Construction Company about 1907 and constructing several business buildings, including the following: (1) Manual Training High School, (2) the "addition to the immense dry goods emporium of the Emery-Bird-Thayer Company," (3) the S. B. Armour home, (4) Christian Church on Independence Avenue, (5) St. Teresa Academy of Kansas City, (6) the plant of the Missouri Gas Company, (7) "the commodious factory of the Proctor & Gamble Soap Company at Armourdale," (8) Switzer School, (9) "Loose-Wiles Factory, and others." |
